DCRTV has received permission from Clear Channel to "resurrect" the tribute web page that was on WGAY's former website to honor the great Eddie Gallaher upon his retirement - age age 85 - in late 2000. The nostalgic music format (big band, standards) that was carried for the past years on 1260 AM (under the name of WGAY-AM and, before that, WWDC-AM) signed off for good on April 9, 2001. But memories of all the fine music, and of DC radio great Eddie Gallaher will live on. Mr. Gallaher, a 53-year veteran of DC area radio, served as co-host of WGAY's morning show. His signature line was "It's nice to know so many nice people." Mr. Gallaher's co-host was another radio great, Bob Duckman, who'd once worked at the legendary adult contemporary WASH radio in the 1970s. Mr. Gallaher joined 1260 (then WWDC-AM) in 1982. His career dates back to 1947 at WTOP radio. He then moved to WASH before joining WWDC. And now, here's the WGAY tribute to Eddie.....

Friday, December 22, 2000 was Eddie's Last day at WGAY.
We will all miss him. Here are some photos of his last day.
