9/18 - More ranting about WMAL's likely move Monday to 105.9 to replace classic rocker WVRX, The Edge. Including what WMAL needs to do, in addition to having a better signal, to better battle other news talkers, WTOP and WAMU. Plus, more silly errors in the Washington Post, including one from the creepy Mike Wise. And, Mac McGarry misses the debut of the 51st season of "It's Academic." Also, WAFY and WWEG owner Nassau faces involuntary bankruptcy. All this and more in today's "Dave TV".....
9/16 - Are we witnessing the last days of classic rocker 105.9 The Edge? And more possible DC radio changes with the completion of Cumulus-Citadel merger. Might WMAL soon get moved to 105.9? Also, where's Washington Post TV columnist Lisa De Moraes, whose column hasn't run since early August? Plus, the Huffington Post starts a DC area news site. 9/14 - I rant more about the Washington Post, including the failure of it to cover yesterday's news about the closing of the Capitol News Connection after reporting earlier this year about a conflict of interest the firm had with WAMU. 9/13 - More on the Washington Post's print carriage of the story about Redskins owner Dan Snyder dropping his lawsuit against the Washington City Paper. Plus, Channel 9 has yet to announce a top sports anchor replacement for Brett Haber. Is this a local news trend to de-emphasize local sports coverage? And, both DC and Baltimore move up in the radio market size rankings. And more in today's "Dave TV".....
9/12 - I open a mystery package sent by a DCRTV fan containing lots of cool local radio and TV memories from the Washington Star, the Greaseman, Larry King, WAVA, the Washington Senators on WTOP-TV, and much more. In the second edition of "Dave TV" for September 12.....
9/12 - Why did the Washington Post not put a story about Redskins owner Dan Snyder dropping his lawsuit against the Washington City Paper in the print edition, even though it gave prominent print coverage of Snyder's suit since it got filed early this year? Why just web coverage about the suit's demise? And another stupid error in the Post. In today's edition of "Dave TV".....
9/9 - The flooding rains hit the DCRTV World HQ. Plus, Mike Wise, Sinclair buys more TVers, and more on Redskins/WTEM owner Dan Snyder's lawsuit against the Washington City Paper.....
9/7 - I find an editing error in the latest "Curb Your Enthusiasm" episode. Almost no ads in the Washington Post's 14-page Redskins supplement today. WTOP tops the August radio ratings. In DC, the best Citadel could do was WRQX and WMAL tied for 12th. The best CBS could do was WPGC at 15th. And more ratings rants. Also, an on-air change at El Zol. Plus, Clear Channel's Meg Stevens gets awarded. And I rant about Washington's public radio choices.....
9/6 - We're hearing the main talk signal of 88.5 WAMU on the new, better signalled 105.5, which usually carries WAMU's Bluegrass Country. Clear Channel's Aloha Trust, which contains Frederick's WFMD and WFRE, comes under scrutiny. And, we salute Mac McGarry, who returns for his 51st season as host of WRC's "It's Academic." In today's edition of "Dave TV".....
9/4 - A Channel 4/WRC news video open from 1986 with IJ Hudson. A memory of Baltimore classical outlet WBJC. My 3rd class FCC license from 1978. Plus, "The Wonderful World Of Washington Radio" from Washingtonian magazine in 1974 with Harv Moore, Johnny Holliday, Willard Scott, Ed Walker, Allen Prell, Harden and Weaver, and Eddie Gallaher. Also, some of the latest local media news, including Warrenton's 1250 for sale and Discovery's Oprah website slumps, in today's edition of "Dave TV".....
